A Little More Light in Your Life

With the clocks going forward, there’s a real sense of reset… lighter mornings, longer evenings, and an opportunity to support your body in a more natural way.
Light plays a much bigger role in our health than many of us realise.
When natural light enters the eyes, it sends signals to the brain that help regulate your body clock (circadian rhythm). This influences when you feel awake, when you feel sleepy, and how well you rest at night. Morning light in particular helps to balance hormones like cortisol and melatonin, supporting better energy in the day and improved sleep in the evening.
On a deeper level, light also has an effect on our cells. Exposure to natural daylight helps support mitochondrial function — the part of the cell responsible for producing energy. This is one of the reasons why getting outside, even briefly, can leave you feeling more alert and refreshed.
Your eyesight benefits too. Regular exposure to natural light has been linked to better eye health, helping to reduce strain from screens and supporting long-term visual development and function.
There’s something powerful about those first moments of the day. Before reaching for your phone or jumping straight into your routine, try giving yourself a little time to wake up naturally. Let the light come in, take a breath, and allow your body to adjust.
If that’s not possible, stepping outside for even 5–10 minutes in the morning can make a noticeable difference. It’s a simple habit, but one that supports your mood, energy levels and overall wellbeing.
If you’re juggling a lot — managing responsibilities, spinning plates, with thoughts moving from one thing to the next — this becomes even more important.
It’s not about doing more. It’s about supporting your body so it can do what it needs to, more efficiently.
Letting natural light into your workspace, taking short breaks away from your screen, and starting the day with one clear focus instead of many can all help create more clarity and steadier energy.
Bringing more light into your day doesn’t need to be complicated. A few small changes can help you feel more energised, more focused, and more like yourself.
You can even reflect that in what you eat and drink. Here is a lovely Smoothie recipe from Michelle!
Sunshine Tropical Carrot Smoothie ☀️
1 cup (240ml) Carrot Juice
1 mango peeled and chopped
1 cup (165g) pineapple, chopped
1 tsp ginger, grated
1/4 cup (60 ml) coconut water
Blend the ingredients, and pour over ice... Smooth, refreshing, and packed with nutrients to support your energy levels without the mid-morning dip.
A quick note before we finish — while natural light is always our first choice, there are other ways to support the body too. Red light therapy is something some people are exploring for energy, recovery and overall wellbeing.

As always, take things at your own pace, listen to your body, and make space for what helps you feel well.
